Five Keys to Good Mental Health

First of all, I want to say that I am not a mental health professional. I have been a grammar school social scientist and I have been in education for 34 years and I have the Mental Health First Aid rating, but these suggestions are only personal opinions and do not represent professional counseling.

• The first recommendation is sleep. Most professionals recommend an eight-hour night sleep for adults. It can lead to more than eight hours of depression or at least a slowdown. Less than eight hours can cause anxiety or nervousness. However, I claim that sleep does not have to be completed at the same time. Personally, I sleep for about three o'clock, I work for a couple of hours on the projects, sleeping for an hour or two; I am tired once or twice a day. Sometimes sunshine takes an hour, sometimes just ten minutes. I think the key is sleep when your body says you have to rest. Of course I'm half retired and the schedule does not work for most professionals.

• Conscientious Diet helps mental stability. I recommend a diet for omega-3 fatty acids. These include most nuts and seeds, but most useful are nuts, sunflower seeds, ground flax seeds and soaked chia seeds. I like to soak my chia seeds in milk overnight, and this combination resembles tapioca pudding. Coldwater fish provide significant omega-3 fatty acids – sardines, salmon, trout, donkey and herring lead the parade in this area. Avocado is another useful food in this area. Low-fat proteins are useful, including beans, chicken, fish and turkey. Of course, diet around the fruits and vegetables is important, and finally probiotics help digestion. These include pickles, sour cabbages and yogurt.

• Another important step involves respect – respect yourself, treat yourself and evaluate yourself. Find a hobby like fishing; go to a nice restaurant or movie once a month, keep a journal about your thoughts or buy.

• Practice is another important aspect that enhances self-esteem and general mental health. An outdoor walk, especially in a park or in the woods – that provides fresh air, strength and sun, vitamin D is a great source of relief for depression.

• Finally it may be useful to others -arc. Conversation can make you feel. You better get out of the smart phone and deal with people personally.

These five keys do not guarantee good mental health, but they will have a long way to go.
